A family legacy
The Lindenhoeve is a story of conviviality, of togetherness and, above all, a story of family. The farm has been home to the Wemaer family since the 1800s. First as a farm, today as a cozy place for families and friends.
This transformation is undoubtedly due to Aunt Germaine. Under her motto “Courage lost is already lost,” the optimistic Germaine and her husband rebuilt the farmstead after the war bombings of ’44. She worked hard, 6 days out of 7, but Sunday was – literally – sacred. That was the time for the family, to cook for them and enjoy coffee and pastries together in the parlor. Those Sundays were legendary, as were Germaine’s cooking skills. All that earned her the nickname Aunt Germaine.
In the 1960s, the children Ilva and Theo Wemaer converted the farmhouse in Sluis into a restaurant. An ode to their mother and her cooking skills. To this day, the atmosphere is as convivial as it is on Sundays at Tante Germaine, the dishes in the restaurant just as tasty. Since 2001, Sven – grandson of – and wife Heidi welcome you with open arms under the linden trees!
